I am originally from Birmingham, in the UK. Between 2012-2015 I studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Manchester; between 2015-2017 I studied Philosophy at Central European University, which at the time was located in Budapest, Hungary, but has since relocated to Vienna in Austria. I wrote a Master's Dissertation in which I argued that people can be, and usually are, better off for coming into the world.
My first serious job was in the civil service, specifically at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), where I worked on the UK's negotiations to leave the EU.
After four years in the civil service, I left in order to work as a software engineer. Since then, I have worked on a range of projects, some of which are displayed here.
I am a keen musician, playing the piano and the cello. I enjoy board games, and play chess to a strong club player standard (at time of writing I am rated 2143 at rapidplay on Lichess, and considerably lower on Chess.com).
I have visited most countries in Europe, and intend to visit more. My favourite cities on the continent include Budapest (of course!), Florence, Granada, and Zadar.
